Why is there a lead time for an order?

We deliberately choose integrity over speed. In an era of rapid automation and mass production, we remain committed to true, authentic craftsmanship. Every Barber Wilsons tap is made to order in our London workshop – cast, carefully machined, hand-assembled, and rigorously tested before it leaves us. The process is meticulous – no production lines, no shortcuts – just the skilled hands of our craftsmen and the precision engineering we’ve perfected over the years. This dedication is why our taps have stood the test of time for over a century and why we take pride in every piece we create.

While lead times vary, we aim to complete orders within six to eight weeks. If your project requires a faster turnaround, we offer first-fix options to keep things moving while the final pieces are being completed. Please get in touch, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your project’s needs.

MANUFACTURING

Where are your products made?

We take pride in manufacturing all our products in our London factory, where we’ve been handcrafting taps since 1905.

What is a Royal Warrant?

A Royal Warrant is one of the highest honors a British company can receive. It is awarded only to businesses that have consistently supplied goods or services to the Royal Household, meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability. This prestigious mark of excellence signifies a commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, trust, and service.

At Barber Wilsons, we are incredibly proud to hold a Royal Warrant, a testament to our dedication to producing the finest taps and fittings. This recognition, granted by Her Majesty The Queen and now upheld by His Majesty King Charles III, highlights our long-standing reputation for craftsmanship and quality, built over decades.

What makes Barber Wilsons’ approach to sustainability different?

Sustainability has been at the heart of Barber Wilsons since we were founded in 1905. Our heritage is built upon the principle of creating small-batch, well-crafted, durable products. This process, our tradition, naturally aligns with sustainability. We do not overproduce, nor do we create surplus. We make only what is necessary.

Our taps and fixtures are designed to last for generations. Simply put, the longer something lasts, the less waste it generates. By prioritizing longevity, we reduce waste from the outset. And when the time comes for a product to be retired, every single component of a Barber Wilsons product is fully recyclable.

Additionally, we offer a refurbishment service for all our products, regardless of their age or condition, further extending their life. It is in these ways that we honour our commitment to sustainability.

FINISHES

What different finishes are available?

We take great pride in offering a wide range of finishes. For a complete list of our finishes, please visit our Finishes Page.

What is a ‘living finish’?

A ‘living finish’ is a finish that evolves over time, developing a unique patina based on the environment and usage. For more information and precise examples, please visit our Finishes Page.

Do the finishes all age the same?

No, each finish ages differently depending on the material and how it’s used. Some ‘Living’ finishes, like Polished Brass and Weathered Bronze, naturally develop a unique patina over time. In contrast, ‘Established’ finishes, such as Polished Chrome and Satin Nickel, are more resistant to change and, with proper care, maintain a sharp, pristine appearance with minimal aging. We also offer ‘Enduring’ finishes – designed for those who appreciate the character of living finishes but prefer a more stable, long-lasting look. The way each finish evolves depends on factors like the environment and frequency of use, so no two pieces will age the same. For more details, please visit our Finishes Page.

What considerations should there be when selecting a finish?

At Barber Wilsons, we’re proud to offer a wide variety of finishes, giving you the freedom to choose the one that best suits your space. When selecting a finish, we recommend considering the look you want. ‘Living’ finishes, such as Polished Brass and Weathered Bronze, develop a unique patina over time, giving each product a one-of-a-kind, ‘vintage’ appearance. If you prefer a more consistent look, our ‘Established’ finishes, like Polished Chrome or Satin Nickel, maintain their appearance longer with proper care, though they may change slightly over time. For those who love the beauty of our living finishes but prefer a finish that stays closer to its original look, we now offer ‘Enduring’ finishes. These finishes combine long-lasting stability with the unmistakable character of our traditional tones, maintaining a close-to-factory finish for many years.

You’ll also want to consider the environment where the product will be used. For instance, living finishes may evolve more with exposure to moisture or sunlight, while established and enduring finishes are more resistant to change.
Finally, think about the level of maintenance you’re comfortable with. Some finishes, like Brushed Brass, naturally tarnish and develop a patina, which many customers appreciate, while others may require more regular care to maintain their appearance. For further details, please visit our Finishes Page.

Yes, our finishes are grouped into three price bands:
